Jazz festival puts Clifden back on music map
The first Clifden Jazz Festival will take place this summer, with several top acts lined up to play over the June Bank Holiday weekend.
Twelve years after the last Clifden County Blues Festival took place for the last time, Clifden is set to regain its place on Ireland’s music map with the introduction of the first Clifden Jazz Festival due to take place over the coming June Bank Holiday weekend.
Acts already lined-up include Cafe Orchestra, Louis Stewart with John Moriarty, and Honor Heffernan, and they will perform at the Clifden Station House on May 30th, 31st and June 1st respectively). Other venues throughout the town will have live music as part of the festival.
The Clifden Country Blues Festival ran from 1989 until 1996 and over the years attracted such noted performers as Henry McCullough, Richie Buckley, Kila, Georgie Fame and Mick Hanly to the attractive Galway town.
