Ireland's home game with Israel "likely" to be moved to neutral venue
The FAI previously said they would host Israel in the Aviva.
Ireland's home Nations League fixture with Israel is likely to be moved to a neutral venue, according to RTE.
The match, which is scheduled for October 4, looks set to switch to a neutral ground, with Hungary considered a likely alternative.
The FAI will now ask UEFA to approve such a move.
Previously, there was expectation that an official decision would be confirmed today, but a public statement from the FAI confirmed that they would wait until after Ireland Women's World Cup qualifier against France on Tuesday.
The reasoning is to keep focus on the attempt by Carla Ward's side to qualify for the World Cup.
Government leaders will meet this evening to discuss their stance on the games ahead of two Dáil motions this week.
Sinn Féin and the Social Democrats are using their Dáil time to call on the Government to boycott the fixtures.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin said that the matter is for UEFA and the FAI.
"That has been my main concern, that the Irish team does not unduly suffer as a result of anything that may happen," he said.
Republic of Ireland manager Heimir Hallgrimsson said a decision about the fixtures should be left with the Government.
A decision to play in a neutral venue would contradict the statement made by the FAI in February, which confirmed Ireland would fulfil both Nations League fixtures against Israel and host them in the Aviva.
"After taking legal advice, engaging with key stakeholders and reflecting on our constitutional obligations, we have decided that the Football Association of Ireland will fulfil both fixtures and will host the home match at the Aviva Stadium as scheduled," it read.
