Infidel release their debut single 'Bath Salts'
The release marks the band's debut.
Galway band Infidel have released their debut single 'Bath Salts'.
Playing shows at popular Galway venues such as the Róisín Dubh and the Ol'55 pub, Infidel have emerged from the DIY punk scene, describing their sound as "sludgy hardcore".
The band debuted the single with a gig at Róisín Dubh in September. The show featured support from Indecision, which guitarist Cian Melis also plays in.
"'Bath Salts' is the first song we wrote about a year ago, it's a very sludgy off-kilter track about grappling with mental health issues," says band frontman Aaron Finegan. "I was losing my mind for a while and found myself complacent in that. This song is one about my loss, my grief and almost succumbing to the darker parts of my mind".
The band's lineup has changed since its inception in 2023. Starting as a duo with Finegan on vocals and Rua Grassi on drums, with Heather Gaffney on bass joining later in 2023, and Melis being the last to join earlier this year.
"Now we're at a stage where we're sounding how we originally intended after a year of being established," says Finegan. "It's only looking up from here."
"Each of us in the band have very unique music tastes that all meshes together and became very complimentary to the music," says Melis. "We’ve expanded our sound a lot and are continuously defining ourselves and gettin comfortable for an audience."
