All roads lead towards Marlay Park as the annual extravaganza that is Longitude appears on the horizon – and Hot Press is building up the the summer spectacular in style.
When it comes to style, nobody is better placed to lead the way than Róisín Murphy, who takes pride of place on our cover. With her Take Her Up To Monto ready to solidify her place at the top table of the pop world, the Arklow woman discusses red lights, posh frocks, Damascus moments and Brexit with our man Stuart Clark.
Elsewhere in our festival preview, Vic Mensa is in typically outspoken mood, Chvrches explain the unique appeal of festivals, and Christine & The Queens discusses her ground-breaking approach to pop. We also profile some of the festivals heavy hitters like Jamie xx, The National and Father John Misty, as well as identifying the acts you can't afford to miss across a jam-packed weekend.
Elsewhere, Colm O'Regan chats with Biffy Clyro's Simon Neil; having luckily caught the Scottish frontman before Brexit(!), they discuss the band's new beginnings, why rock has lost its edge, and how a creative drought gave way to the band's seventh album, Ellipsis.
Hamish Hamilton, the man charged with capturing the epic concert film of U2's iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE show in Paris sits down with Olaf Tyaransen, to discuss the horrific attacks of last November, the triumph of the rescheduled shows, and why our fantastic four remain one of the most creative bands on the planet.
In an extraordinary Hot Press Interview, we catch up with Ireland's most honest politician, Lynn Ruane. The newly-minted Senator pulls no punches as issues including abortion, drug legalisation, euthanasia, prostitution, equality, pornography and much more are discussed with our man Jason O'Toole.
A Frontlines special shines a light on the rise of the far right around Europe, while we also delve further into the findings of the Global Drug Survey. The legendary Samuel L Jackson discusses his role in the new Tarzan movie, the wonderful DBC Pierre addresses his latest book, and the star of Netflix hit Marco Polo chats as the second series hits screens.
Elsewhere, there's natters with Suede, Richard Hawley and Kurt Vile, the live verdicts from a jam-packed month of gigs, and all the usual news, views, previews, reviews, and everything else you could possibly think of!
