'Heartbroken' Snow Patrol announce Paul Wilson and Jonny Quinn are leaving the band
Wilson joined the group in 2005, while Quinn has been with Snow Patrol since 1997.
Snow Patrol, have announced that Paul Wilson, the group's bassist, Jonny Quinn, drummer, are departing the band.
Sharing the news through the band's official Instagram account, the announcement read: "Sorry to be the bearer of such sad news but both Jonny Quinn and Paul Wilson have decided to leave Snow Patrol. We are heartbroken they have decided to leave us but we wish them nothing but happiness, success, joy, compassion and everything they want in all their future endeavours."
Wilson joined the group in 2005, while Quinn has been with Snow Patrol since 1997.
The band's front man, Gary Lightbody, shared a separate Instagram post, saying: "Jonny joined the band in 1997 and therefore, other than myself, has been in the band longer than anyone. 26 years is a hell of a long time to do anything and we are so glad he decided to spend all that time with us."
In a post dedicated to Wilson, Lightbody furthered: "Thank you for all the awesome times you've given us and shared with us Pabs. We love you and hope you and Andrea have a wonderful life together with everything you want in it and more."
The shock has hit fans hard, with many sharing their feelings online.
"Damn man.. Totally gutted by this news. They've been such a big part of this band we love for a long time... All the best to them ofcourse, but this one hits hard, guys... Take care," one fan shared.
Another added: "This is a punch to the gut and it’ll leave a hole in my soul for sure. Follower of the band for decades now. Jonny and Pabs have left their mark on the music and the songbook of Snow Patrol. You will be missed and yet your legacy will remain with every listen."
Whatever the future holds for the band, and for Wilson and Quinn, we wish them the best.
