Grant-Lee Phillips announces second Irish tour date
His 8th studio album In the hour of the dust is out on Friday, September 5.
Grant-Lee Phillips has announced that he will be playing two shows in Ireland next year.
The Nashville-based folk singer will bring his tour to the Out To Lunch Festival in Belfast, on January, 21, 2026, before playing Whelan's in Dublin on January ,22.
Phillips first rose to prominence as frontman of alt-rock trio Grant Lee Buffalo, known for their 1993 debut album and its acclaimed title track, 'Fuzzy'.
This news comes ahead of the release of his newest album, In the hour of the dust, which is out on Friday, September 5.
The self-produced album is inspired by a painting from India and the evocative Indian concept of ‘the hour of cow dust’.
“It’s that moment of the day when the cows are led back home, they kick up the dust; that's a cue to prepare the lamps. Night is about to fall,” says Phillips. “The mood on this album is contemplative, It’s about trying to find meaning in an age of confusion, feeling your way through the blinding dust of unreality.”
Along with this tour news, Phillips also released 'Did you make it through the night ok?', on September 3, the latest song unveiled from his 12th studio album.
The song draws on his heritage as an enrolled citizen of the Muskogee (Creek) Nation, reflecting on hardship and survival.
“There are no words for “Good Morning” in the Muskogee (Creek) language. There is a saying, however, “Estonkon cukhayvtikv.” It means, “Did you make it through the night okay?” I love this greeting. Phillips explains, "It’s a kind of dark humor, reflective of those who have experienced hardship and look upon each day as a new blessing. I’m inspired by the language and traditions of my tribe. It hit me as the perfect way to greet the morning, especially these days.”
