It could be a very good night for the Irish in LA on February 15
Glen Hansard’s Didn’t He Ramble has been nominated for the Best Folk Album Grammy, with Norman Blake’s Wood, Wire & Words, Béla Fleck & Abigail Washburn’s self-titled collection, Rhiannon Giddens’ Tomorrow Is My Turn and Patty Griffin’s Servant Of Love those he has to beat next February in LA.
There’s further Irish interest with Bangor’s Iain Archer and James Bay up for Best Rock Song with ‘Hold Back The River’. They have to beat Alabama Shakes’ ‘Don’t Wanna Fight’, Dave Bassett & Elle King’s ‘Ex’s & Oh’s’, Florence + The Machine’s ‘What Kind Of Man’ for the silverware.
Archer has previously co-authored mega tunes with Snow Patrol and Jake Bugg - the former earned him an Ivor Novello Award - and is a member of the Tired Pony supergroup.
