Gary Lightbody to appear at G8 rally in Belfast
Back in Ireland after Snow Patrol's recent US tour, Gary Lightbody is lending his support to the Make Poverty History campaign
Following on from Snow Patrol’s recent participation in the Oxfam Make Trade Fair campaign, Gary Lightbody will be playing and speaking at a Make Poverty History rally in Belfast’s Custom House Square on June 4.
Designed to draw attention to the upcoming G8 summit in Edinburgh, Motiv8 4 G8 is expected to attract thousands of people who, in addition to some quality politicking, will get to hear Gary do his thing at 2.30pm sharp.
After that, Gary, Johnny and another Snow Patrolman will be jetting (ooh, get them!) down to Cork for a Zane Lowe-assisted DJ set in the Cork Bodega.
Part of the Heineken Music CCCP weekend, the boys will be kicking back after the successful completion of their latest coast-to-coast American tour.
Finally, Bryan Adams has taken time out from recording in Dublin to proclaim himself a Snow Patrol fan.
“I really love that band and rate them highly,” the Canadian enthuses. “They have a good sound and the singer is great.” Not quite as exciting as Pink wanting to party with them, but a celebrity endorsement nonetheless!
