Flying Lotus: Until The Quiet Comes
Flylo's fourth album scales new heights...
When LA-based beatsmith Flying Lotus unleashed his third record Cosmogramma back in 2010, he was rightly hailed as a visionary of the electronic scene. Until The Quiet Comes sees the man otherwise known as Steve Ellison venturing down a (slightly) more commercial alley: the result is one of his most compelling efforts yet. Featuring a handful of guest vocalists including Erykah Badu, Niki Randa and Thom Yorke (whose performance on ‘Electric Candyman’ can only be described as the soundtrack to a late night “adult phone-in show” composed by David Lynch), the album sees FlyLo really explore his jazz influences notably on the title track. While hardly as career-defining as its predecessor, it’s a more cohesive and focused release which will surely earn him plenty of new fans.
