Filthy Angels
Ni rockers’ debut is good clean fun
Funded by fans of the band via the Pledge scheme, LAFA is the debut album from Fermanagh-based rock band Filthy Angels and it’s a loud and lairy slab of wax that wears its Wildhearts and Almighty influences on its tattered, leopard-print sleeves. Opening with the caffeine bomb that is the suitably snotty ‘Borderline Mind’, the record is packed with sleaze-laced licks and classic choruses. Admittedly, songslike ‘Lie Down & Die’ would have benefitted from a better – read more expensive! – production and sometimes the rawness can hamper the impact of a few of the hooks. But, over ten tracks, the quartet have crafted a solid debut that’s both filthy and fun. A short, sharp, and welcome shock.
