Feelin' Good Review
Veteran Producer Gets His Party Groove On
George Evelyn is perhaps one of the unsung heroes on the Warp roster, releasing consistently excellent dance albums under the alias Nightmares On Wax, though never enjoying the profile of Aphex Twin, Autechre or Boards Of Canada. His latest album, Feelin’ Good, is his first since 2008’s excellent thought so..., and eschews the grittier textures of that record for a more club-friendly approach.
Now resident in Ibiza, Evelyn has imbued Feelin’ Good with the sort of euphoric dance grooves for which that resort is famous, though as always he also displays impeccable good taste. Underpinned throughout with killer grooves, Feelin’ Good is consistently irresistible, whether Evelyn is incorporating elements of soul on ‘Give Thx’ or reggae on ‘Tapestry’. Best of all is ‘Now Is The Time’, a pumping party tune guaranteed to get dancefloors throbbing.
Key Track: 'Now Is The Time'
