Facebook Live will enable artists to charge for live streams
The social media platform has made edits to its platform in the face of COVID-19.
Facebook Live has announced that it will make several changes to its platform, the most significant of all being a function that will enable artists to charge for fan access to live streams.
In an announcement, the company said: “To support creators and small businesses, we plan to add the ability for Pages to charge for access to events with Live videos on Facebook – anything from online performances to classes to professional conferences.” They have yet to announce when this function will be available, or what the payment structure might look like.
The Coronavirus pandemic has caused the platform to make other edits, too. Charities can now add 'donate buttons' to live streams, and the Live With function has returned, which lets multiple people join live streams.
