EXCLUSIVE: Sludge-doom band Elder Druid premiere their new album with Hot Press
The Northern Irish five-piece will officially release Carmina Satane on October 6.
Recorded by Niall Doran at Belfast's Start Together Studios, Elder Druid describe the album as being "influenced by blending very heavy fuzzed out doom riffs with occult storytelling. We've always been very interested in the occult and Gregg's lyrics portray that very well. Behind the growls there are tales being told, many involving Satan, hence the album name."
Pummelling low end, heavy metal guitar riffs and relentless, bloodcurdling vocal exhibitions courtesy of lead singer Gregg McDowell give this occult-laden long player its raw, sweaty ferocity. Rarely has a descent into the murky world of sludge/stoner-doom felt this well-executed and satisfying.
Carmina Satanae will be officially launched at Belfast's Bar Sub on Friday, October 6, with Nomadic Rituals, Molar Bear and Voodoo Blood providing support on the night.
