Bob Geldof's Boomtown Rats have been recording new songs and he has given us some words to share with the world.
The Boomtown Rats have been back in the studio. One of the most successful Irish bands of all time, with a string of major hit singles to their credit, the outfit fronted by Bob Geldof, split in 1986. However they are currently back on the road with their return to Ireland scheduled for July 5 as part of the Live At The Marquee series.
"We did a few new tracks that are very interesting," Geldof told Hot Press. "They're very Dublin. Very Ireland. We did four in total, all Boomtown related."
Hot Press understands that two of the tracks have been earmarked for an upcoming Best Of, which has the working title Back To Boomtown Classic Ratshits.
Stay with hotpress.com for updates and further details in the near future.
Before that, Mr. Geldof has revealed the full lyrics to two of these new tracks, written with Ireland in mind. Here are the words to 'Back To Boomtown' and 'The Boomtown Rats'.

Back To Boomtown
Calling
In my head it's calling
Then all the exile years fall away
It's insisting
And Lord there's no resisting
You can twist and turn
But you'll never turn away
I can pick your face out in the crowd
See your shape in every passing cloud
But Lord when you'd call my name
I used to feel ashamed
So tonight for just one night
I'm going to take that plane
That's bringing me
Back to Boomtown
Right now
Back to Boomtown
In my head
It's bleeding
Boomtown's lying bleeding
It felt the sun for a second
Shine down upon its face
But then the rains came
Lord the heavy rain came
Now the sun won't smile
On Billy's face again
Did you wake up from that stolen dream
To find yourself in someones nightmare scene
The streets like trees stripped bare
The empty houses stare
While the thieves and the liars of the night
Creep away to steal
Somewhere else
Me i'm going
Back to Boomtown
I'm always going to go there
Back to Boomtown
You know I want to be there
Back to Boomtown
In my head

The Boomtown Rats
I'm going to Boomtown
Yea i'm going back
Back to Boomtown
Cos thats where i'm at
And when i get to Boomtown
I'm going to ask those cats
What been happening here in Boomtown?
They'll say it's those Rats
Those filthy Rats
Those dirty Rats
Those Boomtown Rats
D'ja wanna come to Boomtown/
I'll meet you out the back
Between the dirty alley
And those Boomtown flats
They're dedicated to St.Boomtown
He's the patron saint of crap
He's praying for a miracle
But what he gets is those Rats
Those Boomtown Rats
