Eric Cantona announces Liberty Hall show this April
Tickets go on sale via tickemaster.ie at 10am Friday, January 26.
Football legend turned troubadour Eric Cantona has announced his return to Dublin’s Liberty Hall on April 10, 2024.
The retired Manchester United player kicked off his career in music last year, with the release of his debut EP I’ll Make My Own Heaven and an accompanying string of live dates.
“The early part of the set is very Serge Gainsbourg-y with Cantona's gravelly baritone on the likes of 'We Drive' and 'The Friends We Lost' also redolent of Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen,” said Hot Press’ Stuart Clark of Cantona’s show at Liberty Hall last autumn.
“We could soon be talking about Eric Cantona the singer who used to play a bit of football rather than the other way around.”
“Writing is a way for me to exist, as only my existence can result in writing this way,” said Cantona (NME) .
“Music has always been a part of my life. I’ve always had music playing. Why start today, so many years later? Simply because I had lacked the time before.
“During lockdown, I finally managed to give the guitar a serious go, and even though I’m still a poor guitarist, I felt confident enough to whip a few songs into shape.”
Tickets go on sale via tickemaster.ie at 10am Friday, January 26.
