Dublin Pride Celebrate Melange of David Bowie and 1916 in 'Rebel Rebel'
With the momentous historic year that's in it and the untimely death of legend David Bowie in January, Dublin LGBTQ Pride have brought the two together to celebrate this year's festival.
Every year, Dublin's LGBTQ Pride holds an official Pride Parade and Official Party and this year it will take place from June 22nd - 26th. The 2016 theme is 'Rebel Rebel'.
The 1916 centenary is a central focus of the parade but also the passing of David Bowie. Bowie's influence on the LGBTQ community is second to none as he expressed the possibility of gender transcendence in a world where gender conformity seemed unyielding. Dublin Pride revealed their campaign poster and the influences are wholly evident;
