Don McLean announces Dublin show on 50th anniversary American Pie tour
Tickets go on sale this week.
Don McLean is set to bring his 50th Anniversary American Pie Tour to Dublin next year – with a fully-seated concert at the 3Arena on Friday, October 7, 2022.
His hit single 'American Pie' was issued as a double A-side single in November 1971 and charted within a month. Interest from the media and public sent the single to No.1 in the US, and McLean to international superstardom. Every line of the song has been analysed time and time again, in an attempt to find the real meaning behind 'American Pie'. Don refused to sanction any of the interpretations, further adding to its mystery.
The track now resides in the Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry, and was also named one of the top five songs of the 20th Century by the Recording Industry of America.
Over the course of his career, McLean has also become a Grammy Award honouree, a Songwriters Hall of Fame member and a BBC Lifetime Achievement Award recipient.
Tickets for his Dublin show start at €34.50, including booking fees, and go on sale this Friday at 9am via Ticketmaster.ie
