Devendra Banhart to make Dublin debut
The former hippie-nomad-turned-musician will play the Dublin Village this summer
Dublin based members of the cult of Devendra Banhart will be delighted with the news that the man himself will be performing live at The Village on Friday, July 29.
A remarkable songwriter with a kooky approach to his folk craft, Banhart began writing songs at the age of 12 but took it up seriously when he realized, in a rather epiphanic moment, that he could write songs about just about anything. "It was like being constipated and then taking a suppository," he says.
From his twisted lyrics about half man-half pig creatures and "fur-less fishes" to his curious vocal stylings, Banhart's creative genius is best experienced in his current album Nino Rojo.
Tickets for what promises to be a very special night are on sale now from €17.50 from the usual outlets.
