Carlow crooner sitting pretty at #1
Having come a long way since his time as a member of boyband D-Side, Derek Ryan now finds himself at the summit of the Irish album charts.
His record, The Simple Things, has shot straight in at No.1, leading the way in a top 5 filled with male solo artists.
Ed Sheeran's x is at No.2, followed by Sam Smith's In The Lonely Hour at No.3 and Paolo Nutini, whose triumphant turn at Electric Picnic has helped his Caustic Love album climb back to No.5.
The only collective in the top five are Royal Blood; having sold out their Academy show in record time this morning, their eponymous debut is at No.4.

Ariana Grande's My Everything might be top in the US, but this week has slipped to No.6 over here, while Maroon 5's V has jumped straight into the No.7 position.
A pair of Irish acts come next, as Sinead O Connor's I'm Not Bossy I'm The Boss and Kodaline's In A Perfect World sit at No.8 and No.9 respectively, while the comeback queen of the moment, Kate Bush, rounds out the top ten with her The Whole Story.
