Declan O'Rourke releases free album a song at a time
Declan O’Rourke has recorded a new 12-track album, Howlin’ Lowly Moons, which he’s giving away a tune at a time over the next year.
The first installment, ‘Woncha’, is available now to fans already on or singing up to the eNewsletter on the declanorourke.com homepage.
“This is a modern solution to a modern problem: records, as we know them, don’t sell the way they used to,” says a spokesperson. “For independent artists even less so, because they’ve got to fund their own records. Releasing an album the traditional way can take up to three years. This way, Declan gets to release great new songs, that have been piling up, directly to the fans.
“Declan will still release physical albums in the traditional way. In fact, this project actually helps him to do that, because new music raises profile and creates demand. New music is essential to a growing career. This project is about an indie artist using the tools available to him right now to maximum effect.”
