Damien Rice to feature on new Help album
Having graced the Closer soundtrack and made the cut for the OC’s illustrious collection, Damien Rice is doing very nicely out of compilations these days.
But before any of you cynics start thinking he’s just in it for the money, pay heed to the news that he’ll be joining the Kaiser Chiefs, Belle and Sebastian and The Go! Team for the forthcoming Help: A Day In The Life album.
The list of top class musicians contributing doesn’t stop there though. The Magic Numbers, Keane, Hard-Fi, Razorlight, The Coral, Gorillaz, Elbow, Maximo Park and Radiohead will all record a song each for the project.
Each of the bands will only have one day to record their song which the War Child foundation will make available via www.warchildmusic.com on September 9.
An actual physical CD comprising all the songs will be released later in September to mark the tenth anniversary of the first Help album which featured Sir Paul McCartney and Blur among its contributors.
Proceeds from sales of the album will go towards helping children in war zones including Iraq, Afghanistan and the Congo.
