Dakota Johnson: Men don’t ask me out because they’ve already seen me naked
The 50 Shades of Grey starlet opens up to Roe McDermott about how men react to her in the wake of her S&M role and why she identifies with her character in her new rom-com, How To Be Single
Dakota Johnson tells Roe McDermott in the new issue of Hot Press how men’s reactions to her have become rather extreme since seeing her get naked in Fifty Shades.
“They’re all thinking, ‘Oh that girl. I already know what she likes, I’ve already seen her naked, no need to ask her out!” she quips.
Johnson thinks the Hollywood gender wage gap is a “very real issue” and is quick to reassure Hot Press that that she and her co-star Jaimie Dornan were paid the same for their roles in Fifty Shades.
On the widespread disparity in pay between actors and actresses, Johnson says, “It’s weird that it’s a problem. But it’s coming along with the times- things are changing in Hollywood.”
Johnson’s new rom-com How to be Single in which she shares the big screen with Rebel Wilson see’s the actress play a character to whom she can very much relate:
“I definitely relate to what she’s going through in life. I’ve certainly gone through times where I feel like I have no idea who I am or what I’m doing, or even where my home is.”
Johnson also tells Hot Press about readjusting to life as a global superstar- check out the full interview in the new issue of Hot Press, on sale now.
How To Be Single comes out in cinemas tomorrow,February 18.
