Can't Stop The Beat
New releases from Fractious and Shit Robot are among the many priceless treasures this fortnight has to offer...
Belfast’s Stephen Garret, aka Fractious, and John Craig, aka JC Williams, have just released their new single ‘Faceless’ on Inflyte Records. Available now on both digital and vinyl, it’s the first vinyl offering from the Belfast label, run by production duo heavyweights Psycatron. The package touches on that Detroit sound and comes with remixes from R.O.D. and Remy Unger. Catch Fractious supporting Adam Beyer at the Stiff Kitten, Belfast on May 25: see [link]www.decks.de[/link]
Shit Robot’s new single, ‘Feels Real’has landed on DFA Records and features Luke Jenner of The Rapture on vocals. It’s a killer track and features with mixes from Luke Solomon and Larse. Get it at beatport.com
Dublin’s Perc Trax has been in operation for nine years, during which they’ve released four albums and 58 slabs of vinyl. Now label head and producer Perc has plans for not one, but two sub–labels. The first will be called Perc Traxx Ltd, and will focus on collaborations, re–issues, and one-off special projects designed to generate peak-time dancefloor mania. A heads-up for connoisseurs: each release will be pressed on coloured vinyl, accompanied by double–sided 12” artwork from Jonny Costello.
The first Perc Traxx Ltd offering is the re–release and re-mixing of Matt Whitehead’s London techno hit ‘A Is For Acid’. The second spin-off will be launched in June and focus on noise, experimental and improvised music, with the first release a collaboration between Perc and an all-time heroes who for the moment shall remain nameless. Donegal producer Slow Place Like Home has released a video teaser for the upcoming ‘Romola’. A full vid for another new track, ‘Invisible Pink Unicorn Club’ drops in June. Check it out at [link]www.vimeo.com/63661049[/link]
Dublin’s Les Marionettes also have a video for their new ‘Engineers’ single up on YouTube. Get the tune for free from [link]www.lesmarionettes.bandcamp.com[/link]
Staying in the capital and Sacred Animals and Last Days Of 1984 have a bangin’ collaboration, ‘Aaja’, available from [link]www.soundcloud.com/lastdaysof1984/sacred-animals-vs-last-days[/link] If you happen to be in Liverpool May 4, show support for the homegrown and catch Last Days Of 1984 tearing it up at Sound City with Darkstar and Mount Kimbie.
We love it when a club pulls out all the stops to party and that’s the case for Dublin’s Abstract, which began in February with the goal of bringing over 12 international acts in 12 weeks. They’ve been living up to their promise, hosting the likes of Phil Kieran, MANIK, Danny Daze, Ahmed and Matt Tolfrey. Next up for the series, which goes down at Pygmalion, are White Collar Boy, Guy Gerber, an Extended Play Records party with Timmy Stewart, JMX and Chris Hanna and Maxxi Soundsystem! Perhaps a series over 52 weeks is in order?! See their Facebook for dates.
Kildare-born, Longford-living producer, Imploded View has a new tune, ‘Toy’, available for free Soundcloud download.
