Brandon Flowers Can’t Oust Nathan Carter From No.1
Meanwhile there's a high new entry from Fight Like Apes.
He played a stormer in the Olympia Theatre this week and his second solo album, The Desired Effect has been selling like hot cakes, but Brandon Flowers has had to settle for a No. 2 spot on the Irish Album Chart. The Killers man has gone up against Nathan Carter and come up second best.
It marks the young Liverpudlian country star's second week at the top with Beautiful Life – last week he outsold Mumford & Sons' latest.
Another Irish success story this week finds Fight Like Apes entering the chart with a bullet. Their eponymous new album is straight in at No. 3. Watch out for an in-depth interview with FLA in a forthcoming issue of Hot Press.
The new entries mean that, while Taylor Swift's 1989 continues to hold firm in fourth, Wilder Mind by Marcus Mumford's mob tumbles three spots to round off the Top 5.
There are two further new entries from some veteran acts in the Top 10 – Saturns Pattern by Paul Weller is at No. 9 and Sol Invictus by Faith No More is at No 10 – while The Eskies entered the charts with a strong showing. After The Sherry Went Round is at No. 12.
