Blood
Franz Ferdinand attempt to put some dub in the music and end up with (re)mixed results
Blood is a compilation of dub music versions of the songs which appeared on Franz Ferdinand’s most recent album, Tonight. The band are taken very much out of their comfort zone and into an artistic experiment, which, sadly they don’t quite pull off. While it features some creative and clever remixes the record lies awkwardly between indie-pop and dub without ever really finding the right balance. There are some fantastic re-workings on offer, but not enough to grasp the listener’s imagination from start to finish. That said, it does offer an interesting new dimension to the band’s music.
Key Track: ‘If I Can’t Have You Then Nobody Can’
