Bloc Party announce their return to Ireland
The Olympia Theatre is the venue this November when Bloc Party play live in Dublin
Liam Gallagher might liken them to “University fucking Challenge”, but the insane number of people squeezed into Whelan’s earlier this year for their Dublin debut shows that there are no shortage of takers for Bloc Party’s brand of angular rock.
Kele and the lads are at it again on November 7 when they play the Olympia, with tickets priced €22.50 on sale Saturday, June 11.
Their popularity isn’t confined to this continent, with rave reviews for their current round of Stateside gigs.
“Bloc Party captures the exciting volatility of early punk bands like the Sex Pistols while managing to keep the playing at a very high level,” gushes the man from Live Daily.
“The rhythm section of Moakes and shirtless drummer Matt Tong came across like a pairing of Godzilla and Mothra on a weekend bender in Tokyo. Guitarist Russell Range's angular rhythm rock was reminiscent of U2's The Edge, only played at a higher RPM. Okereke was a madman on stage, busting guitar strings, crawling on his knees and feeding the cathartic slot machine on true emo tracks like ‘This Modern Love’."
We’ll consider that a ‘thumbs up’.
