Blackbird & Crow to launch second album ‘Ailm’ at The Grand Social
Donegal alt-folk duo Blackbird & Crow have announced the launch of their sophomore album ‘Ailm’ at The Grand Social on Friday, April 10.
Ailm landed on January 24th on German label MIG Music, which the band teamed up with after being discovered at a music club in Donegal. The album was produced by Tommy McLaughlin (Villagers, SOAK, Lisa O’Neill) at his Attica Audio Studios and mastered by sound engineer and producer Brian Masterson (The Chieftains, Van Morrison, Elvis Costello), has received exceedingly positive reviews.
Far from ho-hum poetry, Maighread’s lyrics delve deep into personal issues ranging from addiction, suicidal thoughts, and abuse to social alienation and anxiety, giving texture and realism to stories about lost souls and the gloomy aspects of Celtic mythology.
Ailm is the follow-up to Blackbird & Crow’s 2017 debut album Shock Shatter Convince - a record that gave way to bookings at festivals such as Electric Picnic, Arcadian Field, Standhal and Longitude. In spring 2019 the band went on tour in the Netherlands and Germany with the Scottish rock legends, Big Country.
