Billy Corgan Dublin-bound
Enigmatic artist Billy Corgan will be appearing at the Dublin Ambassador this summer
With a new solo album set for release, Billy Corgan has announced a live date at Dublin's Ambassador Theatre on June 17.
As the former frontman of Smashing Pumpkins and Zwan, TheFutureEmbrace is Corgan's first solo foray and features contributions from Pumpkins' drummer Jimmy Chamberlain and, notably, The Cure's Robert Smith, who provides backing vocals on a cover of the Bee Gee's 'To Love Somebody’.
Interested parties can get their hands on the album when it hits stores June 21, or attend the live preview at the Ambassador Theatre, tickets for which are on sale now priced at €42.50.
Describing the sound of TheFutureEmbrace, Corgan writes on his website: "If the metal band Raven met the wrestler Raven at a barbeque, and they got in a scuffle over who is better?: Deep Purple or Rainbow"
Curious Corganites can get fully up to speed with the singer's blog at www.myspace.com/billycorgan - a regularly updated autobiography-in-progress which Corgan describes as "a public art project that intersects a few goals: freedom from the past, freedom for the future, and a desire to share without shame..."
