Billie Eilish puts her distinctive spin on The Beatles' track 'Something'
The teen musical sensation also delivered a beguiling cover of fellow Beatles track - ‘Yesterday’ - the Academy Awards this year.
18-year-old Billie Eilish has debuted her own vulnerable take on The Beatles’ hit ‘Something’ for SiriusXM’s Alt Nation.
Accompanied by only a piano, the artist provided a haunting transformation of the George Harrison-scribed ‘Abbey Road’ track.
Eilish picked the song as part of her recent Apple Music show saying:
“I remember listening to this song when I was in love, or whatever, and yeah. This song really, once again, got me. I don’t know. I think that it’s such a well-put song. I think the lyrics say something that I barely hear, and I feel like lots of people are saying something similar, but I feel like only The Beatles could say exactly this.”
“It’s such a thing that we feel, it’s such a human feeling," she adds. "So this is ‘Something’ by The Beatles. Also, everybody knows that The Beatles were the main, probably, pool of music that we listened to growing up. This is one out of basically all of their songs that I loved and adored growing up, but this one really stuck with me.”
The exclusive radio session also saw Eilish play acoustic versions of ‘Ocean Eyes’, ‘Everything I Wanted’, and her newest single ‘Therefore I Am’.
The singer-songwriter, producer and music video director sadly cancelled her ‘When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go’ world tour last night, explaining that no alternative solutions were available.
Taking to her Instagram followers, Eilish said: “I wish that I could have seen you on tour this year. I’ve missed performing for you and being on stage so much, I can’t even tell you.”
All tickets will be refunded over the coming weeks.
