American folk-rock artist Bill Callahan has announced his upcoming studio album My Days of 58, set to release on February 27, 2026 via Drag City.
The first single, ‘The Man I’m Supposed to Be,’ is out now.
“Improv, unpredictability, the unknown — that’s what keeps me making music,” said Callahan about the creative process. “A lot of the best parts of a recording are the mistakes, turning them into strengths, into something human.”
My Days of 58 was recorded with Callahan’s touring band from his 2022 album YTI⅃AƎЯ, with Matt Kinsey on guitar, Dustin Laurenzi on saxophone, and Jim White on drums. Together they also featured on 2024’s live album Resuscitate!.
The new record also features contributions from Richard Bowden (fiddle), Pat Thrasher (piano), Chris Vreeland (bass), Mike St. Clair (trombone), Bill McCullough (pedal steel), Eve Searls (backing vocals), and Jerry DeCicca (tambourine).
Before his solo career, Bill Callahan performed under the name Smog, releasing a series of lo-fi and indie folk albums between 1990 and 2005. The project included both studio recordings and live performances, with Callahan as the primary songwriter and performer.
My Days of 58 marks Callahan’s eighth studio album, following YTI⅃AƎЯ in 2022.
