BIIRD perform at Derry Girls star Saoirse-Monica Jackson's wedding
"It was beyond a pleasure to play for yer special day," said BIIRD.
Last week, Irish trad band BIIRD performed at Derry Girls star Saoirse-Monica Jackson's wedding to DJ Denis Sulta.
The supergroup thanked the newlyweds on an Instagram post.
"It was beyond a pleasure to play for yer special day GRMMA for having us."
The 11-piece group aims to change worldwide narratives of trad music by partnering with leading Irish designers and stylists.
The group is led by Lisa Canny, a seven-time All-Ireland champion on harp and banjo and an acclaimed songwriter and producer. Other members include Laura Jo (vocals), Zoran Donohoe (harp), Sal Heneghan (violin, harp, piano), Miadhachlughain O’Donnell (vocals), Aisling Sage (violin, fiddle), Niamh Hinchy (vocals), Aoife Kelly (violin), Ciara Ní Mhurchú (fiddle), Hannah Hiemstra (drums) and Claire Loughran (uilleann pipes, flute, harp).
They got their start in March, 2024 with a performance at in Trafalgar Square, London and have since played at the London Irish Centre in Camden, London, Lovely Days Live and All Together Now.
The couple thanked BIIRD, along with others who contributed to the wedding, on several Instagram posts.
