Arrested Development announce first Irish show in eight years
The group will perform at Dublin's Button Factory on August 26, with tickets going on sale Friday, July 3, at 10AM.
American hip-hop group Arrested Development have announced their first Irish show in more than eight years.
The Grammy Award-winning collective will perform at Dublin's Button Factory on August 26 as part of their Legacy In Motion tour.
Formed in Atlanta in 1988 by rapper and producer Speech and turntablist Headliner, Arrested Development emerged as a socially conscious alternative to the gangsta rap dominating the charts in the early 1990s. Their 1992 debut album, 3 Years, 5 Months and 2 Days in the Life Of..., sold more than six million copies worldwide and spawned the hit singles 'Tennessee', 'People Everyday' and 'Mr. Wendal'.
In 1993, the group became the first hip-hop act to win the Grammy Award for Best New Artist. They also won Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for 'Tennessee' and were named Band of the Year by Rolling Stone.
Following a hiatus in the late 1990s, Arrested Development reunited in 2000 and have continued to release music independently while touring internationally. Their current line-up includes Speech, 1 Love, JJ Boogie, Fareedah Aleem, Za’ and Tasha LaRae.
The Dublin show will see the group perform classics including 'Tennessee', 'People Everyday' and 'Mr. Wendal', alongside material from across their career.
Tickets go on sale on Friday, July 3, at 10am.
