An essential early interview with one of Ireland's landmark musicians - revisited to celebrate his newly-announced hometown performances in Newbridge later this month
Already a legend in the folk world, Christy Moore was about to see his stock rise even higher when he did this interview in May of 1984. His new album, Ride On, would take Ireland and other parts by storm, bequeath a certified all-time classic in the shape of Jimmy McCarthy's title song and establish Moore firmly as the people's champion.

That memorable image, and his forthright opinions in conversation with journalist John Waters, combined to produce something close to a definitive portrait of Christy Moore at that time in his life and career.
