Arcade Fire top the Irish album chart
The Suburbs has knocked Jedward off their perch.
Arcade Fire have debuted at number one on this week’s Irish album chart with The Suburbs. Win Butler & Co. replace Jedward whose Planet Jedward remains at number two ahead of, respectively, Eminem, Mumford & Sons, Florence & The Machine and Lady Gaga.
His much-praised Sligo shows have resulted in Leonard Cohen’s Greatest Hits jumping 15 places to number 22 and his The Essential and Live In London collections re-entering the survey at numbers 30 and 72.
Meanwhile, Flo Rida feat. David Guetta’s ‘Club Can’t Handle Me’ is up three to number four on the Irish singles chart. The highest new entry at number 27 is Huey And The Hobgoblins’ ‘Mood Elevator’. A 10-piece retro pop collective from Drogheda, they’ve been described as “The Commitments, Lalo Schifrin and Muddy Waters getting together to write the theme tune for a 70s cop show starring Telly Savalas and Karl Malden.”
