The Academic announces second Vicar Street date
Tickets for the Westmeath quartet’s previously announced gig on December 15th have been selling quickly and the clamour for more has prompted another date to be confirmed for the following night.
The 4-piece took to Twitter to show their appreciation, saying: “We can't get over how quickly the tickets have gone for our show at Vicar Street. THANK YOU! Due to demand, we are really excited to announce a 2nd and final night on December 16th!”
Both Vicar Street shows will cap off what has been a remarkable 2018 for the band, who at the start of the year saw their debut album Tales from the Backseat reach number one in the Irish charts upon its release. This success was followed by a string of live performances both at home and abroad, most notably in the summer where they supported The Rolling Stones at their massive Croke Park show in May, and in July where they headlined themselves at the Iveagh Gardens.
The band subsequently went on a run of US and European tour dates, so their Dublin shows will fittingly finish off their biggest year to date at home.
The Academic will play Vicar Street on December 15th & 16th. Tickets are €25 inclusive of booking fee and are available now from Ticketmaster.ie.
