Tributes pour in following the death of former Formula One team owner Eddie Jordan at 76
The Irishman revealed he was suffering from cancer in December.
Many tributes have been shared following the passing of the former Formula One team owner Eddie Jordan, who died at age 76 in Cape Town, surrounded by his family.
In December, Jordan revealed that he had been diagnosed with bladder and prostate cancer, which had spread to his spine and pelvis.
A statement released by Jordan’s family today reads: “It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Eddie Jordan OBE, the ex-Formula 1 team owner, TV pundit and entrepreneur.
“He passed away peacefully with family by his side in Cape Town in the early hours of 20th March 2025 at the age of 76, after battling with an aggressive form of prostate cancer for the past 12 months.
“EJ brought an abundance of charisma, energy and Irish charm everywhere he went. We all have a huge hole missing without his presence. He will be missed by so many people, but he leaves us with tonnes of great memories to keep us smiling through our sorrow.”
Formula One Group CEO Stefano Domenicali paid tribute to Eddie Jordan, issuing a statement:
"We are deeply saddened to hear about the sudden loss of Eddie Jordan. With his inexhaustible energy he always knew how to make people smile, remaining genuine and brilliant at all times. Eddie has been a protagonist of an era of F1 and he will be deeply missed. In this moment of sorrow, my thoughts and those of the entire Formula 1 family are with his family and loved ones."

Several Formula 1 teams have taken to social media to express their condolences, including Aston Martin and Mercedes.
Aston Martin shared: "We're deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Eddie Jordan. His impact will be felt across the motorsport community for generations to come. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues at this time."
While Mercedes said: "We are deeply saddened by the passing of Eddie Jordan, a true F1 legend who contributed to, and shaped the sport, in so many ways. Our thoughts go out to his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him."
Several friends, colleagues, and family members have also shared their memories and messages of support:
Some of those include Michael Flatley, who took to Instagram to write: "God rest your soul dear Eddie. Legend, brother, best friend, rockstar! You lived your life fearlessly. Love you forever. See you on the other side."
