On a bend in the road between Roscarbery and Leap, you’ll find this hidden gem. The Old Mill Stores in Gortnaroe is a thriving independent shop that occupies one half of the building – the other half is derelict, giving the whole a mysterious quality. Tom Keane and interior designer Claire Graham opened here nearly two decades ago and the store has since become a must-visit for lovers of homeware and interior design. The revolving stock simply can’t be represented online: you have to visit. Enter through the original grocers, proceed via the checkerboard tiled kitchen, and you’ll find a room that was once a formal parlour, discovering covetable items with every step. From whimsical wall art like bronze rhino heads, to light fittings that look like floral clouds, there’s a fantastic selection.
