D6 has been enjoying a foodie renaissance, with lots of smart new restaurants opening. One of these is truly outstanding, and a Best of Ireland favourite. ‘Seasonal and Irish’ is the mantra at Craft, which is lovingly presided over by chef-owner Philip Yeung, who goes the extra yard to source local artisan ingredients, and frequently changes the menu. The result is a thoroughly deserved 2018 Bib Gourmand from Michelin. The food here really is inventive – think a starter of Kilkeel Crab with Celeriac, Peanut, Yuzu & Daikon – and superbly executed. Lunch is served Friday and Saturday from noon-3pm with the Dinner Menu available Wednesday through Saturday. They do a fantastic Saturday and Sunday Brunch, which includes such delights as Ham Hock Benedict with Poached Eggs, Spinach, Hollandaise & English Muffin. Service is great and the wine list is on the money too. Tables can be at a premium, so book ahead.
Best Dish: Market Fish with Hispi, Kohlrabi, Brown Shrimp & Cucumber – €24
