What do you like best about Dublin?
Its incredible energy and sense of community. Despite the challenges we’ve faced over the past few years from Covid, the city has this lovely buzz about it. It’s an intimate place – you can easily bump into friends or stumble upon a hidden gem down a side street. There’s always something happening, whether it’s a pop-up restaurant or a show.

What do you think is the most iconic thing about modern Dublin?
How it beautifully blends the old with the new. I especially enjoy walking down Grafton Street around Christmas to see the lights. After that, grab a hot chocolate or coffee at Butlers, then pop into St. Stephen’s Green to feed the swans with the kids. This time of year is special; the autumn leaves create such a stunning backdrop.

Where is your favourite place to eat?
We’re big fans of Dim Sum Sundays at Ka Shing or The Good World in the city centre. Coming from Hong Kong, it’s important to me to keep that yum cha tradition alive with my kids. And of course, I can’t forget about the hot pots and Korean BBQ around Capel and Parnell Streets. For a good steak, you can’t beat FXB Monkstown. Sundays, it’s all about Big Mike’s Blackrock Surf & Turf Platter, the kids love it.

Dublin’s best bar?
I don’t drink due to an intolerance to alcohol, but I’ve managed to find a few great spots that cater to my tastes. Café en Seine is lovely for its atmosphere, and they have some great non-alcoholic options. House on Leeson Street is another favorite; their mocktails are spot on.

What’s your favourite shop in Dublin?
Kitchen Whisk on Wicklow Street is an Aladdin’s cave filled with all sorts of kitchen gadgets. I could spend ages just browsing and picking up little bits and bobs that make cooking more enjoyable.

Where do you shop for clothes?
I’m all about casual wear. I love popping into the Brown Thomas basement and also enjoy a good find at COS. I also have a bit of a thing for trainers – I tend to bring home a new pair every few weeks. Living near Dundrum, I like taking the kids there for a walk; it’s a nice way to spend time together and explore the shops.

Favourite Dublin building?
The Long Room at Trinity College is a standout for me. It’s like stepping back in time, surrounded by history and literature. Also, St Patrick’s Cathedral is stunning inside too.

Your Dublin music?
When I moved to Dublin from Donegal over 20 years ago, Aslan really struck a chord with me. They capture the spirit of the city in such an authentic way.

Favourite Dublin neighbourhood?
Rathmines is a charming neighbourhood with a laidback vibe, yet it’s full of life. I love exploring the local cafés and independent shops, like Lottie’s restaurant, Stella cinema and Ramen Co.

Your Dublin hero?
Ross Lewis. He’s always been there with support and advice as I was starting out, and his passion for Irish food is inspiring. I also admire Kellie Harrington for her resilience and achievements.

What is your most loved spot in Dublin to catch some me-time?
I really enjoy spending time at Marlay Park and Bushy Park. It’s fantastic to have such lovely spaces nearby to relax and enjoy nature. I often take a football for a kickabout with the kids, and on weekends, we like to grab a bite from the food stalls. It’s a great way to unwind together.

Where is your favourite place to bring friends/family when they visit Dublin?
I like to take them down to the Docklands, especially around the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre. It has a lovely vibe and reminds me of a smaller version of London’s Canary Wharf. I’m a bit biased, since my restaurant, Bites by Kwanghi, is nearby!
