WATCH: Filmmakers share new teaser clip for Spinal Tap II
The sequel to the 1984 mockumentary This is Spinal Tap is set for Irish cinema release on September 12.
New footage has been released online following the announcement of Spinal Tap II: The End Continues, the follow-up to the original, This Is Spinal Tap.
The sequel will return to the fictional English heavy metal band Spinal Tap, following a 15-year hiatus as they prepare to perform one final concert.
The comedy will again star its director, Rob Reiner, as filmmaker Marty DiBergi.
The Spinal Tap members will be played again by Christopher Guest as Nigel Tufnel, Michael McKean as David St. Hubbins and Harry Shearer as Derek Smalls.
Teaser footage was recently released via social media.
The video shows Reiner’s character, Marty DiGergi, attempting to hold a group Zoom meeting with the members of Spinal Tap; however, the bandmates appear to struggle with technical difficulties.
A 30-second teaser for Spinal Tap II was also shared earlier this year, showing the band amping up for a gig, before revealing the sequel title of the film as well as the 41st anniversary remaster of its original.
The teaser announced cameos from music stars Elton John, Paul McCartney, and Garth Brooks.
Spinal Tap II: The End Continues will be in Irish cinemas on September 12 2025.
