Louisa Harland to star in new Disney series Renegade Nell
The Derry Girls' actor will play the lead role in the upcoming historical fantasy.
Disney will release its newest action-adventure series Renegade Nell to streaming platform Disney+ on March 29, 2024.
The eight-part original series is written and created by BAFTA-award-winning writer Sally Wainwright and will be directed by Sex Education director Ben Taylor.
The show follows protagonist Nell, a quick-witted and courageous young woman who is framed for murder, making her the most wanted outlaw in 18th century England.
The cast consists of a group of all star actors including Derry Girls' Lousia Harland as Nell Jackson. Supporting her is Frank Dillane as Charles Devereux, Alice Kremelburg as Sofia Wilmot, Ényì Okoronkwo as Rasselas. Jake Dunn as Thomas Blancheford, Bo Bragason as Roxy Trotter, Florence Keen as George Trotter, with Nick Mohammed as Billy Blind, Joely Richardson as Lady Eularia Moggerhangar and Adrian Lester as Robert Hennessey, Earl of Poynton. Pip Torrens as Lord Blancheford and Craig Parkinson as Sam Trotter.
The series will be produced by Lookout Point. Executive producers include Sally Wainwright, Ben Taylor, Faith Penhale, Will Johnston and Louise Mutter, all of whom are from Lookout Point. As well as Johanna Devereaux from Disney+. Amanda Brotchie and MJ Delaney will also direct episodes of the series.
