ITV Confirm Start Date For Love Island 2019
Prepare yourself for the long-awaited return of the sun soaked dating show.
Everyone and their mother has heard of Love Island; the finale of the fourth season amassed 3.6 viewers, which was the highest count in history for an ITV2 show! From the moment the news came that the show would be renewed for a fifth season, anticipation started building. The wait is finally over - ITV have confirmed that the first episode will air on Monday, June 03.
Love Island, for those who aren’t familiar with the controversial dating show, is presented by Caroline Flack and centres around a group of singletons descending on a beautiful villa in the hopes of finding love, winning a £50,000 cash prize and, ultimately, gaining social media followers.
The show is set to air regardless of calls for it to be cancelled following the deaths of two former contestants. Sophie Gradon, a contestant in 2016, was found dead in June 2018 and Mike Thalassitis, a 2017 contestant, passed away in March.
These untimely deaths brought the show’s duty of care into question. Show runners revealed that they had evaluated their after care provisions and announced that they will be offering ‘bespoke training’ and support to every Love Island contestant, regardless of whether they ask for it or not.
Rumoured to appear on the coming series of Love Island is Miss Great Britain Kobi-Jean Cole, social media influencer and model Sav Berry and Strictly Come Dancing’s AJ Pritchard’s younger brother Curtis Pritchard. All will be revealed on Monday, June 03 on ITV2.
