Irish film The Spin to come out on October 24
The comedic music-themed road movie will be released in selected cinemas nationwide.
The Irish comedic music-themed road movie The Spin has been announced for a theatrical release in selected cinemas nationwide on October 24.
The film stars Game of Thrones' Brenock O’Connor and Hardy Bucks star Owen Colgan as Dermot and Elvis, two quirky music-loving but unlikely friends from Tyrone.
“Dermot's promising music career has not panned out as anticipated,” the film’s official logline reads, “and Elvis is going through a tough divorce. To top it all off, their much-loved record shop is threatened by scheming landlady Sadie (Derry Girls’ Tara Lynne O’Neill), after falling four months behind on the rent.
“Dermot has outgrown his life in Omagh, including his girlfriend (Love Island’s Maura Higgins), and is considering leaving Ireland to pursue his dream of becoming a professional musician. But he doesn't know how to do that without breaking his friend's heart.”

The film follows the duo as they travel from Omagh to Cork to collect a box of priceless records for sale at a rock-bottom price. “During a warmly funny road trip,” the logline continues, “the lads encounter a nun, a stripper, a stuffed fox, and an angry chicken and put their friendship to the ultimate test, proving that true friendship is hard to find.”
It also stars Horslips member Barry Devlin, and Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt.
The Spin has been played at Film Festivals throughout the world and picked up Best Film awards and Special Selection in Dublin, Belfast, Michigan, Chicago, Omaha, Rome, Bremen, West Lothian and Istanbul.
Speaking of the film, director Michael Head said: “I wanted a story that isn’t about the humdrum. Something full of community and Irish spirit that just… makes you smile. Life’s a bit poxy; if our film brightens ten minutes of it, job done.”
