Irish actress Aisling Franciosi joins Sandra Bullock's new Netflix film
Franciosi is set to play Bullock's younger sister in the upcoming film.
Fresh from her role in Jennifer Kent's harrowing thriller, The Nightingale, breakout star Aisling Franciosi is gearing up for major international success, with a role in Sandra Bullock's upcoming Netflix film, alongside Viola Davis and Rob Morgan.
The Irish-Italian actress, who was honoured with a coveted European Shooting Star award at this year's Berlin International Film Festival, will play the estranged younger sister of Sandra Bullock's character, Ruth Slater: a women who struggles to re-enter society after her release from prison.
According to Collider, the currently untitled film is based on the British series Unforgiven, and will be directed by Nora Fingscheidt (System Crasher) and written by Oscar winner Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects). Viola Davis and Rob Morgan are set to appear as lawyers in the film.
Franciosi's previous credits include appearances in The Fall and Game Of Thrones. She's also currently filming the upcoming mini-drama series Black Narcissus, also staring Gemma Arterton and Jim Broadbent.
In the new bumper Christmas special of Hot Press, Franciosi sits down to discuss her breakout role in The Nightingale, and revealed a wishlist of people she'd love to work with.
"I love directors such as PT Anderson, the Coen Brothers, Kathryn Bigelow, Andrea Arnold, Yorgos Lanthimos, Lenny Abrahamson," she revealed. "And in terms of producers, I'd love to work with Ed Guiney – he's picking amazing projects. But there's no one type of role I'm chasing. Also, I'm not at the point of choosing my roles! I see stuff I'm interested in, and I audition! Give me an interesting script and a great role, and I'm interested."
