Este Haim named as executive producer on A Small Light soundtrack
The limited series will premiere May 1st, followed by the release of the soundtrack on May 23rd.
Este Haim has helmed the National Geographic limited series A Small Light as executive producer. The series centres around the life story of Miep Gies, a Dutch woman of Austrian descent who was instrumental in hiding Anne Frank and her family from the Nazis in the annex of Amsterdam apartment. The show premieres on Monday, May 1.
A Small Light: Songs From the Limited Series- a collection of cover songs by Danielle Haim, Kamasi Washington, Sharon Van Etten, Angel Olsen, Weyes Blood, Moses Sumney, among others- has seen Este Haim serve as executive producer. The soundtrack will subsequently be released May 23rd after Ariel Marx has released her original score for the series on May 19th.
Haim, who co-produced each track on the soundtrack, expressed her delight in a statement saying: “I can’t begin to express what an honour and a privilege it is to be a part of this series, especially as my first role as an EMP."
"Miep’s story is one of a modern woman standing up for what is right, and that should continue to inspire all of us. I am so thrilled to be able to help bring this to life through the power of music.”
Until its release, two tracks from the soundtrack will be released each week, beginning with ‘Till We Meet Again’, covered by Este’s sister, Danielle Haim, and Kamasi Washington’s version of Charlie Parker’s ‘Cheryl’, out Friday, May 5.
