Colin Farrell to be honoured at Zurich Film Festival next month
Farrell's film Ballad of a Small Player comes out in Irish cinemas on October 17, followed by a Netflix release on October 29
Colin Farrell will be honoured at this year's Zurich Film Festival in September. According to The Hollywood Reporter the actor is being recognised for his performance in upcoming thriller, Ballad of a Small Player and his career achievements.
Farrell will attend the festival on September 27 to receive the Golden Icon Award and attend the gala premiere of the forthcoming film. The Oscar-nominated actor will also take part in the ZFF Master's discussion the following day.
The Zurich Film Festival takes place over 11 days, from September 25 to October 5.
Ballad of a Small Player will release in Irish cinemas on October 17, and will be available on Netflix, October 29.
The film follows the story of Lord Doyle (Farrell).
"When his past and his debts start to catch up with him, a high-stakes gambler laying low in Macau encounters a kindred spirit who might just hold the key to his salvation," reads the synopsis.
Ballad of a Small Player also stars Tilda Swinton, Deanie IP, Fala Chen, and Alex Jennings.
The feature is based on the 2014 Lawrence Osborne novel of the same name and directed by Edward Berger, who brought you the Oscar Award winning Conclave (2024) and war-time film All Quiet on the Western Front (2022).
