Colin Farrell, Domhnalll Gleeson and Charlie Heaton cast in Rich Peppiatt's Netflix film Bad Bridgets
The film is set to begin filming across Ireland and Northern Ireland next month.
Netflix have announced that Colin Farrell, Steve Coogan, Charlie Heaton, Domhnall Gleeson, Himesh Patel, Niamh Algar and Simone Kirby have joined the cast of Bad Bridgets, the upcoming film from director Rich Peppiatt.
They will star alongside Emilia Jones and Alison Oliver in the film, which is set to begin production on location in Ireland and Northern Ireland in mid-July.
Written, directed and produced by Peppiatt, Bad Bridgets follows a young Irish woman who travels to 19th-century New York after receiving a mysterious letter, where she becomes entangled in the chaotic world of the "Bridgets".
The film is inspired by Elaine Farrell and Leanne McCormick's 2024 book Bad Bridget: Crime, Mayhem and the Lives of Irish Emigrant Women. Set in 19th-century famine-era Ireland, the story follows the mass emigration to the United States and focuses on two sisters and the often-overlooked realities faced by many Irish women.
Peppiatt's latest project comes after the success of Kneecap, his BAFTA-winning feature debut.
Bad Bridget's is produced by Margot Robbie's LuckyChap Entertainment, the company behind 2023’s hit Barbie. It is also developed with support from Queen's University Belfast.
