Culture Night in Limerick this year will bring a lively evening of music, art, and performances to venues across the county. Part of the national Culture Night initiative, the events allow people to explore local galleries, theatres, museums and community spaces, many of which open their doors for free.
This year's programme features a wide mix of activities, with something on offer whether you're after live music, hands-on workshops or a quiet look round a historic building.
Here are some of the events taking place in Limerick:
The Ballyneety Men's Club is hosting a display of local talent, from singing to storytelling. School groups will be participating; individuals and other groups may take part as well. Neither booking nor club membership is required.
Borrowed Space is the name of this year's Spacecraft studios member exhibition, located at Studio Saol. A range of visual art, from sculpture to printmaking, will be shown. Emerging artists are highlighted as audiences are invited to learn about creative practices and approaches by meeting Limerick's contemporary artists.
Charlie Chaplin's debut film Making a Living will be screened, accompanied by a live organist, Rónán Murray, at the University Concert Hall in Limerick town. The Compton Organ is a historic instrument meant to accompany silent films; this is the only one in Ireland.
Culture Night is free to attend and runs from early evening until late, with most venues open between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. unless stated otherwise. Some events may require booking in advance, so check with individual venues for details.
