WATCH: The Murder Capital perform 'Return My Head' at Coachella 2023
The Murder Capital have been on tour across the US for their second album, Gigi's Recovery, which hit No. 1 on the Irish Album Charts back in January.
Dublin band The Murder Capital performed at Coachella 2023 over the weekend for their first stint, with the outfit returning next weekend for the second round.
The official Coachella YouTube has released a performance video of the rockers delivering a rendition of 'Return My Head' from their chart-topping second album Gigi's Recovery.
The John Congleton produced second album was released on January 20th via Human Season Records. The Dublin outfit managed to dethrone Taylor Swift's Midnights, as well as stepping ahead of Dermot Kennedy's former No.1 Sonder and SZA's SOS, marking the first time The Murder Capital have reached the top spot.
It was a historic occasion for the band, with Coachella providing a significant US platform. The quintet's single 'Return My Head' features plenty of James McGovern's bold melodies and strong vocals, mingling with electronic elements. The visceral track acts as an immediate, direct slice of alt-rock that delivers aggression and lyrical motifs about reinvention post-stagnation.
"To me, ‘Return My Head’ is the desire to return your mind to a place of peace and stability, and the belief that to do so, is possible," bassist Gabriel Paschal Blake said of the self-directed video. "At its best to me, the narrative of the ‘Return My Head’ about coming back to a safety."
Coachella has so far seen epic performances from Blink-182, boygenius, Frank Ocean, Charli XCX, Becky G, Rosalia, Bad Bunny and more.
