Project Arts Centre will delve into LGBTQ history
Between March 6 and 21 the Project Arts Centre in Dublin will host the second chapter of the Active Archive – Slow Institution project. A research initiative that delves into the Centre’s 50 year history and takes a look at the future.
‘Queer-In-Progress. Timeline’ maps LGBTQ histories and specifically looks into lesbian, female-identified, transgender and feminist activism. The Timeline begins with an exploration into Project’s LGBTQ theatre history. This ongoing body of research has been collected by artist Hannah Tiernan.
The timeline will be a tool for bringing into conversation various points of views and unpack overlooked aspects of complex historical events. The display will change and expand during the two weeks and the public are invited to contribute to the evolving timeline and its periodical updates. During the two weeks the Project Arts Centre will host ‘Public Viewing’ events as to participate in a conversation with guests. The guests will moderate the close-reading of a selection of materials relating to LGBTQ history, culture, politics, community relations, and public health. The gallery will also give space to a series of workshops and gatherings.
